RETURN THE PUEBLO

Reflections

40 years ! Who would ever have believed it. This will be our first reunion east of the Mississippi. Many people over the years have said "if we have a reunion on the east coast more crewmembers would attend." And, some folks have wished for more time to visit and renew old aquaintances.  After visiting all the hotels in the Burlington area it became obvious that we needed something special for this milestone.  With those  thoughts in mind we hope we have come up with a few things that will make this a really special anniversary reunion.

Pueblo Authors, Writers and Public Officials Discussion

In an effort to further examine  the "Pueblo Incident" we are inviting authors of books on Pueblo, writers and public officials who have relevance to our 40th reunion.  On friday afternoon we will hold an informal discussion group made up of these invited guests. A lot of things have been written over the years about us and the Pueblo. The USSPueblo is still in the news. This summer, after the retirement of the USS Kitty Hawk  CV-63, the USS Pueblo  AGER-2 will be the 2nd oldest commissioned ship in the US Navy. The oldest being the USS Constitution docked at the Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston. A new book on Pueblo will be coming out this Fall. The National Archives recently released a DVD of a US Navy briefing given in early 1969 proving that all the North Korean "evidence" was forged! For the last few years, right up to last month, the North Koreans have hinted that they may return Pueblo.

 "PUEBLO" the play
We have been contacted by Ms Karey Faulkner, Founder and Producing Artistic Director of the The HeritageTheatre Company of Bethesda / Potomac, and Silver Spring, Maryland. Karey would like to present the Stanley R. Greenberg stage play "Pueblo" during our 40th reunion with the Pueblo crew and our families as special invited guests. The play, originally presented in the early 1970s  in the Washington DC area, received critical acclaim. The Heritage Theatre Company is a renowned professional company with many many performances under their belts. Karey's offer to produce Pueblo in Vermont during our reunion is really special opportunity. Please click on the link to visit Heritage Theatre's website and click on the "Coming this September."       Thanks again Karey!!

*** His schedule permitting, there may well be a special guest we haven't seen for 10 years at the play.

The performance of "Pueblo" will be at the St. Michael's College Theatre. The folks at "St. Mike's" are really looking forward to hosting this event in our honor. There will be a reception before the performance so we have made arrangements to enjoy dinner at the St. Mike's college dining room beforehand. Buses will be provided from the hotel to the College.
Really bigger!
